Four Places to Wine, Dine, and Entertain Clients in DC

Four Places to Wine, Dine, and Entertain Clients in DC

When it comes to dining and entertainment, Washington, D.C., has no shortage of options. It seems like a hot new restaurant or bar opens every week, and on any given day there’s bound to be something — a comedy show, sporting event, concert — happening. But when you need to wine, dine or otherwise entertain a client, what are the best options in the city? We’ve rounded up four of our favorite hot spots so you can wow your clients with ease the next time they’re in town.

Capital One Arena

601 F St. NW

With everything from Disney On Ice, to monster truck shows, to Washington Wizards games, the Capital One Arena in the heart of D.C.’s Chinatown has events for just about every taste and interest. Got a pop-music-loving customer? Pink performs at Capital One Arena in April, and Shakira’s El Dorado World Tour arrives there in August. Or perhaps you have a sports-nut client. Why not take them to a Washington Capitals or Wizards game? Ticket prices start at around $35.

Daily Grill

1200 18th Street NW

When you only have a lunch hour to impress a client in D.C., you can’t go wrong taking them to the Daily Grill, a Dupont Circle eatery frequented by members of Washington’s business and political elite. Offering classic American fare with a hipster twist — the “BLTA” offered is the classic sandwich, but with the addition of the now-ubiquitous avocado — this place won’t pose an issue for picky eaters or those with food allergies or special diets. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the prices very reasonable. As a bonus, you might even spot a member of Congress or two over your beef dip sandwich. Lunch per person will run you about $15 to $20.

DC Improv

1140 Connecticut Ave NW

Maybe you’re lucky enough to have a client with a particularly sharp sense of humor — and you have the chance to entertain them for an evening. If so, ditch ideas of a traditional sit-down dinner and get tickets to see a well-known comic at DC Improv, a longtime Dupont Circle institution. Or catch a “DMV Showcase,” one of the place’s regular line-ups of local comedians. This venue boasts a cozy, intimate setting and full restaurant and bar, so no need to worry about starving your client if you’re there around dinnertime. Show tickets are generally under $20 per person.

Ford’s Theater

511 10th St NW

Perhaps your clients’ tastes run to the more traditional. Do they like musicals or plays? Take them to the historic and beautiful Ford’s Theater at Gallery Place. Currently on offer at the theater is “Jefferson’s Garden,” a drama set during the American Revolution. And from March to May the Tony-Award-winning musical “The Wiz,” a twist on “The Wizard of Oz,” will play. Tickets to shows at Ford’s Theater generally start in the $25 to $35 range.
